Dear Parents this fund raiser is coming your way so please
check bags on Friday!
We only have one week to order our Arcadian Surf Club cossies
so a prompt return of the order form is essential. They will look
great stuffed in your child’s Santa (or the like) stocking
and look even better when your child chases the black line, next
swimming carnival. A good gift for the hard to buy for. Some samples
of the cossies will be arriving this week and will be on display
in the office. See Lindsey for
more details.

I do hope you were all able to read the latest blurb for
Arcadia Public School, on our Annual Fireworks in the Hills news.
ANGLICARE -SIMPLY GIVING CHRISTMAS CAMPAIGN
We are hoping that parents, teachers and pupils of the
school will support this very worthwhile cause which helps families
less well-off than ourselves have a Happy Christmas.
The campaign runs from 2-16 November and there will be boxes
located in each classroom where gifts/donations can be left. Please
help in any way you can.
If you would like any further details, please speak to Carol
Hargraves, who is in charge of our school’s involvement
in the campaign
WORKING BEE – CHURCH AND SCHOOL PATHWAY
The church pathway working bee is on the 22 November. We
need some parent helpers to come along. 8am start. Morning tea
provided.
The pathway will have a timber edge and crushed granite inside.
We will need a couple of extra wheel barrows, shovels and hammers.
The Cameron’s Bobcat will do a lot of the hard work, so
don’t be frightened. Come and meet other parents & the
church families. Great community effort. Any questions ring Sonja
Cameron 9653 2898.
Please let me know if you are able to help even for a
short time
Cheers Sonja
MOBILE PHONE MUSTER
We are nearly there!
Arcadia public School needs 14 kilos worth of old Mobile phones
and associated batteries & cords. The winner which is hopefully
us will receive 50 native trees for the school. Just ask your
child to bring them to assembly. We are nearly there so ask your
neighbours or work colleagues for their old ones to benefit our
kid’s school.
The APS Newsletterfieds

It’s good to see the ads in the paper just Call/email Yvonne

Our Fundraising Ethic
The P&C is essentially responsible for raising funds to provide
additional resources and facilities for our children that are
not provided through the Department of Education which provides
our children with the bare necessities for learning the cirriculum
– nothing else.
At the beginning of the year, you are requested to pay a non-compulsory
P&C contribution. Many of you may not know how this money
is spent, and may wonder why we still have fundraising activities
to raise further money.
The additional funds raised through functions such as the Fireworks
night, canteen, Mothers’ Day stall etc. are used to provide
additional things for the school and therefore our children. The
P&C commits around $3000 per year for the library –
for the purchase of new books and resources. We also pay for other
things such as prizes for Presentation Night, trophies and ribbons
for sporting events, rental/hire for halls, fields, sometimes
buses, etc. All of this expediture is presented to the P&C
meeting by the school for our discretionary payment.
Further, any major (and even not so major) items are paid for
by the P&C after due consideration at P&C meetings as
to the merit of expenditure. We generally aim to provide funds
for items that are to be used by as many of the children as possible.
In the past, some of the major items have been – the play
equipment near K/1, new carpet in the weather shed, air conditioning
in various locations and the canteen building.
Details of P&C expenditure are freely available and provided
to everyone at P&C meetings if anyone wants to know any further
or more specific information.
