Sport

Sport and physical activity is a valued part of our school's curriculum. Our inclusive culture means that all of our students take part in sporting programs with enthusiasm and enjoyment.

We foster students' appreciation and commitment to team membership as well as recognising the value of leading an active lifestyle to enhance physical, social and mental well- being.

Arcadia PS is an active participant in the NSW Premier’s Sporting Challenge achieving a Diamond award for our students’ commitment to the program. ‘More students, more active, more often!’

Representative Sport

Our Students in Years 3-6 compete against schools in the local area. Soccer, netball, tag league and cricket are played in the Beecroft Primary Schools Sports Association competition (PSSA).

Students also have the opportunity to compete in Athletic, Swimming and Cross Country carnivals. These carnivals allow those students who are performing at an elite level to represent Arcadia in Zone, Area and State competitions.

Please refer to the PSSA Term 1 Calendar for upcoming events.

School sport at Arcadia is an inclusive skills- based program.Through rotational activities, students discover and develop sport-specific skills, along with increased confidence, regardless of individual skill level.

The K - 6 PE program is linked to the Personal Development Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) syllabus and  combines individual and tactical skill development through competitive games.

We have physical activity programs for children from Kindergarten to Year 6, with a focus on fundamental movement skills.

Sport and physical activity is a valued component of our school's curriculum, contributing to the development of the whole child. It provides a vehicle for social, physical, emotional and moral learning and is an important expression of our culture.

The participation, enjoyment and skill development of our students is the corner-stone of the school sport/ physical activity program. All our students take part in this program.

There are also opportunities to represent our school at inter-school sports competitions. As a NSW public school we benefit from the opportunities for shared activities and competitions with other schools, coordinated by school sport associations. See the Premier's sporting challenge for details.
